Guardianship
Concentrates on assisting families, or other concerned individuals, when a person has failed to plan for their incapacity through the preparation of a Durable Power of Attorney or Trust and the person then becomes incapacitated.

An incapacitated person is one who no longer has the ability to manage his or her own person and property. In Guardianship this office will often represent those seeking to having another person declared incapacitated so that the person seeking the determination of incapacity may then protect and manage the property of the incapacitated person and make decisions concerning the incapacitated person's residence, associations and health care.

Guardianship often becomes necessary when an elderly person without family close by becomes vulnerable to financial and other exploitation or begins to neglect their health and hygiene to the extent that they become a threat to themselves.
